A Family Connection: Bridget’s Journey to the Senior Move Management Industry
For Bridget, the meaning of her work as a senior move manager has a strong familial connection. “My parents were antique dealers and my family was in the antique business for 55 years,” she explains. “I have a background in corporate marketing and advertising, and after I started my family, I took off from work. With my background and experience growing up, I later decided to open my own antique shop,” she says. When the recession happened, it began taking a toll on Bridget’s store, and she considered other options for her career.
That’s when Bridget met with various realtors and marketing directors of local retirement communities. Upon her consultations, she wondered about the difficulties for older adults in navigating the stressful moving process. “I wondered, what do older adults do with all of their belongings and how do they handle all of this? The consensus was that I could play a significant role in helping them transition to retirement communities and help them sort through the belongings they needed to get rid of,” Bridget explains.
After earning her certifications in Senior Move Management, Property Appraisal, and Estate Liquidation she opened her estate liquidation and appraisal services business in 2008. “My husband joined me and we’ve been doing this for the past 13 years,” she reflects. As Bridget builds relationships with her clients and helps them along their moving journeys, she is thrilled to help ease the stress of this overwhelming process.
We do whatever we can to minimize our clients’ stress and help them deal with any uncertainties. This is the move of a lifetime for many people. A big part of their concern is letting go of the belongings they’ve had forever that define their memories and the majority of their lives. We help with that emotional part of it and hold their hand along the way.–Bridget Donnelly, Senior Move Manager and Estate Liquidator
Bridget’s support for both the physical and emotional aspects of moving provides great relief for her clients. Serving a tremendous amount of help to overwhelmed adults in their later years, she says her business thrives majorly from clients’ referrals. “Our clients refer us to so many of their friends who are about to move or in the same kind of transition. It tells us that our services have really met our clients’ needs,” she affirms.
In fact, she’s helped several clients move to The Village, like Al and Jane Butler who moved to the community during the spring of 2020.
